Lories, also called lorikeets, are a standout group among parrots. They are among the most colorful parrot species and they have a unique brush-like tongue, which allows them to remove pollen and nectar from flower blossoms. With nectar as a main part of its diet, it’s no surprise that lories are high-energy birds.

As the rain-soaked clothes sitting on my hamper can attest, the weather has shifted into full drizzly, chilly autumn in these environs. The leaves haven't quite followed suit, save for the mildest of amber tints creeping in here and there. So while it's still a bit early for the full effect of fall to hit, how about a sneak preview of the color that will start popping up with verve in the next month with the Themed Feature for September 2016: Ecstasy of Gold!
